This fall brings plenty of national and international Wushu competitions.
We thrilled to be competing at the Canadian National Championships this coming weekend, and then at PanAm Wushu Championships later in August (Santa Clara, California).
Our athletes have been training hard under the guidance of Master Li. We hope to make the Canadian National Team and compete at this yearβs 9th World Junior Wushu Championships being held in Brunei.

Congratulations to the success of all 44 athletes from Wayland Li Wushu that competed in the 2024 Ontario Martial Arts Games and Selection Event!
Key achievements:
44 athletes in high performance Wushu divisions with stellar results: 41 gold medals π₯, 28 silver medals π₯, and 12 bronze medals π₯
Optional Division: 9 gold medals π₯, 4 silver medals π₯. Athletes that qualified for PanAm Games include Erica, Rex, Caleb and Tiggy.
Group A: 8 gold medals π₯, 9 silver medals π₯, and 1 bronze medal π₯. Athletes that qualified for PanAm Games include Amanda, Chloe, Ellie, Kai-Hsin, Chris and Allen.
Group B: 14 gold medals π₯, 8 silver medals π₯, and 7 bronze medal π₯. Athletes that qualified for PanAm Games include Lia, Venus, Roberta, Cindy, Marcus, Lucas, Timmy, Johnny and Robert.
Group C: 10 gold medals π₯, 7 silver medals π₯, and 4 bronze medal π₯. Athletes that qualified for PanAm Games include Thea, Brianna, Clara, Khloe, Avery, Ryan, Eason and Jiahao.

Congratulations to Lia and Amanda!
On March 17, 2024, Wushu Canada β together with the City of Markham β recognized two Wushu Canada athletes from Wayland Li Wushu for their accomplishments in the sport.
Lia Tang-Ruggiero was recognized as βMost promising Wushu Taolu Athlete of the Year 2023β
Amanda Sun was recognized as βWushu Taolu Rising Star of the Year 2023β
In 2022, at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championships, Lia won gold for Group B Gunshu, silver for Group B Changquan and bronze for Group B Daoshu. Amanda placed 5th in Group B Jianshu and 6th in Group B Qiangshu.
Thank you to Shifu Li for his diligent coaching througout the years.
Further, thank you to Mr. Sunny Tang, president of Wushu Canada for presenting the award, as well as Rosalynn Kwok for coordinating the awards.

On March 9th, 2024, we joined our wushu friends in a provincial competition at the 2024 Ottawa Open Wushu Championships.
The event was held in North Gower, Ontario at the Alfred Taylor Recreation Centre.
Our Wayland Li athletes competed along with friends from Sunny Tang, Wushu Ottawa, Maple China Wushu, Quebec Wushu and many other teams.

The 16th World Wushu Championships are around the corner, and our athletes are ready to represent Team Canada on the global stage!
This yearβs championships are hosted in Dallas, Texas from November 14-22, 2023.
From Wayland Li Wushu, we have two athletes on the national team: Erica Li competing in the Womenβs Division, and Rex Lam competing in the Menβs Division.

Congratulations to the success of all 53 athletes from Wayland Li Wushu that competed in the 2023 Ontario Winter Games!
The biannual Ontario Winter Games is supported by the Ontario Government through its Games Ontario program. The provincial sports program attracts more than 3,000 participants competing in over 20 sports. Wushu has been an official sport of the games since 2018.
The competition was held February 10th to 12th in Arnprior, Ontario.
Key achievements:
More than 30+ athletes competing for the first time in high performance wushu competition
8 gold medals among Rex Lam, Rasa Rahnema, Thomas Chen, Chloe Lee, Sophia Liao, Eason Gao, Ryan Gao and Melody Lin
